This locally smoked fish is very popular with the regular customers

The process makes almost the entire fish edible

Haven’t really mentioned the fish we serve at Devil Reef.

They all come from the early morning fish market down by Innsmouth Docks. The vendors always have the most amazing selection of fish caught just the day/night before.

The old market building has lots of character

You need to get there whilst it's still dark to get the best fish

Much of the original Victorian equipment is still used

Fish don't get fresher than this - no net damage either...

On the way back to the bar, blue skies start to show behind the market

Locally caught and bottled for local sale to locals only...

Found this is a local store – Pickled Vampire Squid.

Tastes amazing and is now on offer with our locally sourced cheeses.

afternoon2

We're now doing early afternoon opening once a week - these locally sourced cakes are very popular.

ginga biscuit

We're doing a limited edition cocktail, from our local Big Game Hunter - called the Ginga Pudding

in the tank

The local fishermen are bringing in some amazing lobsters, very tasty. But very aggresive, need chainsaw protective gloves to handle them...

coffeebean

In our search for the complete tiki taste.

We now offer, Sepik River Double Expresso – strong enough to take your head off!!

Local mussels

Local mussels

Fresh local mussels with garlic, onion, cream and a light white rum served with homemade bread with sea salt crust.

These are some of the best mussels I’ve ever tasted, not sure if it’s due to them being so fresh (caught same day off the reef) or that they might be a new species.

Food menu worked on

August 28, 2009

After the high point of the curries from Paul Storm on opening night, we’re working on the grill menu.

Using locally sourced crayfish from the Manuxet River, we’ve got an amazing crayfish stew planned.

It was a bit of a rush with all the last minute details that needing sorting, but the night was a big success.

First up – thanks to everyone that helped out and supported, special thanks to Paul Storm for the great Thai food and to local Milton for the very interesting Black Marsh Pie.

Here’s some of the photos, in no real order…

Just some of the morgue toe tag invites for the night [thanks to the HPLHS]
We just about kept up with the cocktail orders with the big crowd

To entertain during the early evening we have a live web cam feed from the bottom of Devil Reef projected onto the wall. Find it here http://www.teamorca.org/eyeinthesea.htm, thanks Colin for tech support.
